I dont think it’s so much that he’s bothered by them, it’s more that he thinks someone deliberately set the situation up knowing he’d do the calculations
I just found this manga and read it all in one go, it’s so good! You’ve improved so much since you first began this project, it’s delightful to see the incremental progress. It’s just about looking like an official manga now. I will be looking forward to seeing what happens next!
This math shouldn’t be that tricky for Senku. Especially seeing as 16 & 32 are very strongly implying a doubling sequence, it’s only a matter of how many times each second length persists (presumably, that is the “trial and error” part). 60 is a natural guess at that point, which corresponds to ~32 minutes having passed, which coincides exactly with his estimate. The question still remains as to the intervals between entries, because if they were all equal then that’s 8 minutes between entries, while Senku computed the 4th interval to be 9 minutes (and I double checked, it’s pretty much exactly 9 based on the previous observations). Lelouch also claims that his interaction with Shikamaru lasted exactly 9 minutes, (although I’d take that with a grain of salt, he doesn’t have Senku’s feats when it comes to tracking time lol) which excludes the possibility of linearly increasing intervals (7, 7:40, 8:20, 9). My guess would be that all but the first interval are precisely 9 minutes, since Shikamaru didn’t really have anything to do on his own anyway. I actually went back to check if Shikamaru did anything before Lelouch entered, and noticed that the clock seemed to read 4:12:30 which would be exactly 5 minutes after the start (the start being at 4:15:00), just before Lelouch came. This confirms my hypothesis of the intervals being exactly 5, 9, 9, 9 etc.
What’s kinda concerning about all this is when the timer runs out. The most natural guess would be 4:00, but that is 545 hours away!! (545:10:56 to be precise) Exponents are scary. If this is indeed the deadline, then the real timer is starvation. If the timer is supposed to run out at 4:05 (why not just start it at 4:10 and end at 4:00 then?) then we have a much more reasonable 16:06:56 to work with. Still doesn’t make it that urgent though. Of course, this is all assuming the speed of the second hand keeps halving. And of course it is also possible that the actual deadline does not depend on whatever the clock is showing, or depends on it in an unusual way.
Anyway, great story so far, and always happy when to see math in manga 😀
Wow! I really appreciate the time you took to do the maths and theorise for yourself. I’m happy that this timer segment which is more maths heavy (and so more boring to read for the acerage)is reaching audiences like you. I just want to point out that the time that appears on the clock in part 4 (shikamaru’s first entrance) is supposed to be 4:13:28 (you said 4:12:28) but that’s my fault I prob didn’t draw it well. And about when the timer will run out, EVERY ANSWER TO EVERY QUESTION has already been given to you, if you can find it…

IMHO, Senku wouldn’t be bothered that much by such calculations

Yep, this is how i intended it to be read!

Dude you have some real fucking talent! If you decided to make your own manga some time in the future I would be super interested in following it!

I like how Kiyo was like a background noise during Senku’s calcs, lol
Absolutely loving your work btw, good luck
